hey guys, i was wondering what you guys thing about constructed languages (no duh :p ). you know... Esperanto... (i would name more but I'm to lazy to look up the names). do you guys think they are a very good solution to the reason they were created - being so people can communicate easily? does anybody even know any?

According to me, it's quite strange to create another language because people all around the world would have to learn it, and it would take time... Why wouldn't we use one of the most spoken languages in the world instead ?

that would be english and even though it is my native language (my only other language is German which i love because its easy) i hate english with a passion. for example how are you supposed to know weather to capitalize a noun? (some are which you probably knew) and how does castle end up as casel? besides, english uses th and ra which none of the french or German interns can say.we also have very funky conjugations, like spit > spat, run > ran, eat > ate, play > played, use > used. I'm pretty sure english is a level 2 language also, meaning it is somewhat hard to learn. any frechies want to tell us about their english learning experience comp[aired to other languages?

I don't understand why you're saying this ;) Your "funky" conjugations are great, as they are clear enough, and also that they are much easier than French or Spanish conjugations !

Moreover, even if English isn't my native language, I would really like it to be THE language in the world ! I prefer it than French now :p

Personally, I've almost learnt all the grammar points, and they look so obvious to me now ! Logical, also, and even being French, sometimes there are things I'd like to say in English because there's no equivalent in French, or because it's really shorter ! :)

well it seems nobody likes their native language (i know like, 50 people who speak a different native language) that's why we must use a constructed language! (i hope you realize that by now I'm just arguing because i like arguing...)

Yabberyabber, English isn't hard to learn at all...at least you don't have to memorize 3000 characters to read a newspaper. Plus just because you have terrible spelling and grammar issues doesn't mean it's a bad language. Plus there are few countries that actually speak German beside Germany itself and many people in those countries can also speak English and potentially other languages like French and Italian.

you tell me that every day, but you still cant figure out the past tense for shit! (guys, he goes to my school so dot think we never met...) besides, at least when you memorize characters you don't have to worry about spelling or capitalization! all you have to do is have incredibly good handwriting which nobody actually has anymore because we use computers now...

What do you mean by constructed languages?

At school we used to sometimes talk to each other in pig latin so noone we didn't want to understand us could. Its basically mixing up english words.

Our version of it was to put "ivag" after the first letter of each sylable, and if the first letter is a vowel, putting ivag first.

for example

thivagis ivagis mivagy vivagersivagion ivagof pivagig livagativagin.

No english speaking person can understand it if you speak it fast enough.

Maybe French isn't hard at all. It always depends what you read. Some text (complete and long) are really simple to understand. It's just because French is a specific language and enable to use different words to mean the same thing, avoiding to repeat the same word 3 times in a paragraph.

But I agree that English is really easy. I've learned it fast and I understand it a lot. But some language are nice to speak jsut because the accent (according to spanish lol). I heard form my teacher that some text at UN reunions are French because they have specific terms / sentence to precise. Like some scientific congress (which don't very have any interest :p )

Anyways, English is the most-known language used in commercial exchange, so I need to learn it if I want to go far in my job ;)
