Hi

Do any of you know OpenTTD?
It's an open source remake of the famous Transport Tycoon Deluxe game. It adds many new functions, including an incredible multi player mode.

I don't, could you tell us more about this game? Maybe a link to the official website?

Official website is : http://www.openttd.com/ I suppose ?

I've never played TT, but I've heard about. I see they have released the game for Debian. I'm going to test ;)
But I agree with speedking, you should tell us more about this game, and TT in general (for people who don't know it like me).

You think I am useless ? That occurs often, don't care about that.

I tested it a long time ago and it's not bad at all for an open source game ^^ But I prefer the Chris Sawyer's Transport Tycoon or even the game of Sid Mieier in the same style.

no it's got nothing to do with sim city ^^

ok I will present it rapidly:

openTTD is a remake of the original Chris Sawyer's Transport Tycoon game that came out around 1995. For those who don't know him, Chris Sawyer is the creator of many games such as Roller Coaster Tycoon, which have known a great success at some time.
The website for openTTD is http://www.openttd.org/. The game is still the same; you have to create your transport firm and make a lot of money :D but with this remake, many new features have appeared. For example, it is possible to make time pass twice as fast when you have nothing to do; the new electric train style has appeared; many other smaller features (but nevertheless very useful) such as auto renew trains, replace trains, rail convert...

But for me the main feature is the on-line multiplayer mode. Up to eight companies can play against each other on a server, and it is also possible to play in cooperative mode. It make huge rail networks possible to build.

If any of you ever play the game online, you might see me (nick=cmoiromain, company name=trans-porc) and want to join me (I never put any passwords on my games ;)

and last thing, the fact that it is open source makes it possible to patch it (I think it is programmed in C and C++). Lots of people currently create very interesting patches. If they are totally bug-free and supported by many players, they can get included in the main trunk.

This game is great :) .
I already had TT before getting OTTD.
For the first time, my copany is winning money, instead of the opposite :D
I recommend this game to everyone, as it doesn't need a powerful PC at all ;)
